Halloween Party Ideas You Should Consider

The spookiest time of the year is upon us and we finally have an excuse to don our fancy dress and get creative. Once you get a little too old for trick or treating, Halloween parties are the go to way to celebrate this haunting holiday. Naturally, you are going to want your guests to dress up for the occasion but there’s a lot more you can do to guarantee Halloween party success. Take a look at some of the ideas below and get ready to throw a party that will go down in Halloween history.

Spook Up Your Food

Serving normal nibbles on Halloween just won’t cut it. You’re going to want to get some toffee apples ready and prepare lots of pumpkin-based baked goods. Pumpkin muffins and pumpkin pie are both easy and go down a storm. Be sure to decorate the muffins with spider webs and other ghoulish designs. If you want to go down a healthier route then lychees (they look like eyeballs) are a good idea. Remember to use food colouring to your advantage. You can make even the most innocent of foods look like a bloodstained nightmare with a bit of red food colouring.

Make The Drinks Creepy Too

Got the food sorted? Now move on to the drinks. If you can get your hands on some black vodka then you’re in for a real treat. Use this to whip up some creepy cocktails and delight your guests with them. Any red beverages will also help the Halloween theme prevail in your drinks. Pop some floating eyeballs on top or tape a severed (fake) finger to the side of the glass for an extra spooky effect. The more screams your drinks induce the better. These drinks can all be done with food colouring and soft drinks if your guests are not of the legal drinking age.

Get Some Games Ready

You don’t have to make the whole night revolve around games but it is always good to have some on offer. It spices up the night a bit and throws a bit of competition into the mix. Bobbing for apples is a Halloween classic and is really easy to set up – all you need is a bucket, apples and water. If you want something a bit gross but really fun, fill a big bowl with Jell-o dyed black with food colouring. Put little chocolates wrapped in foil in the Jell-o. Cover the bowl with some fabric and cut a small hole in the top. Then, tell people to plunge their hand in and grab a chocolate. Watch their horrified faces as the squelch straight into Jell-o!

Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Pumpkins!

You should already have some pumpkins carved and sitting outside your house to let people know where the party is. Now, if you really like carving pumpkins and want to share your joy with your guests, why not get them to carve some pumpkins with you? You could tell everyone to bring their own pumpkin and then set up a carving station somewhere in the house (kitchen or garden work best). See what people come up with and give a prize for the best carving.
